I think it’s time I introduce myself!
This is me👆🏼But it may be a surprise to some of you to learn that my name isn’t actually Kiira (plot twist), it’s Taz.
〰️ I’m the owner and designer of KiiRA Jewellery and am completely in love (possibly obsessed) with gemstones. This is not surprising considering I was raised by gemologists and the love of shiny rocks runs deep in my veins.
〰️ I formally joined the industry in 2013 when I attended the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and qualified in jewellery design, manufacturing and diamond/gemstone grading.
〰️ After returning to South Africa, I worked in retail and then as a buyer and designer for a few local jewellery businesses. One of the first things I noticed about the local industry was how much jewellery is imported from abroad (mostly the East). This always bothered me because we have so many local goldsmiths and artisans that are so talented and hungry for work. I feel it’s our duty to support each other!
〰️ I started KiiRA Jewellery just over a year ago and made a vow to keep it as authentically African as possible. It is my way of combining my passion and my compassion - a celebration of Africa’s natural beauty, diversity and the potential that exists within the land and its people. I want to share something beautiful and precious with all of you in an authentic, ethical and sustainable way.
〰️ All of our jewellery is made with love and pride in South Africa using ethically sourced African gemstones and diamonds and responsibly sourced gold. I hope you love our little creations as much as we love creating them ✨
